Madera Unified School Bus Driver Seriously Injured in Accident Involving Dump Truck on Avenue 12
MADERA, CA (January 29, 2025) – Two drivers sustained injuries following an accident involving a school bus and a dump truck on Avenue 12, Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 24, at about 12:10 p.m. A Madera Unified school bus reportedly failed to yield to the right-of-way and entered the intersection at Road 26.
Then, a Freightliner dump truck collided with the right of the front of the school bus, causing it to rotate 180 degrees.
Emergency crews transported the 72-year-old school bus driver to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Meanwhile, the 58-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries.
As per reports, the school bus had no students on board during the crash.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
