Jesus Guillen, 3 Others Killed in High-Speed Police Pursuit Crash at16th Street and Mountain Avenue
UPLAND, CA (July 1, 2024) — Jesus Guillen and three others died after a high-speed police chase ended in a two-car crash at 16th Street and Mountain Avenue.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal accident happened around 1:50 a.m. Friday. While trying to pull over a suspected DUI driver, Rancho Cucamonga learned that the driver did not comply. Subsequently, the 2018 Hyundai fled at a high speed, evading deputies.
Shortly after, the stolen Hyundai crashed into an uninvolved white 2010 Ford Mustang, occupied by a 35-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Ontario.
Upon impact, the Hyundai struck a pole and the car broke into three parts before catching on fire. Moments later, paramedics responded to find five people ejected from the Hyundai. Four of the five died in the crash, including 16-year-old Guillen.
A 13-year-old boy survived the incident and received hospital care.
Following the incident, police found a loaded firearm on one of the bodies and learned that the car was stolen out of Fontana.
If anyone can help traffic investigators with this case, call the Rancho Cucamonga Station.
Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with the families and friends of Jesus Guillen and the remaining victims.
