16-Year-Old on E-Bike Suffers Broken Leg after Struck by Sedan on Genesee Avenue in University City
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (January 31, 2025) – A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in an e-bike accident on Genesee Avenue in University Wednesday afternoon on January 29.
The accident happened around 4:55 p.m. near the westbound 52 Freeway on-ramp. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 39-year-old man driving a 2016 Mazda 3 turned left in front of the teen who was riding an electric bicycle.
The sedan then struck the teen, causing the victim serious injuries.
Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital with a fractured femur.
A 16-year-old girl who was on the bicycle with him was evaluated for multiple abrasions.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
