Joseph Rangel Dies in Hit-and-Run Motorized Bike Crash near Olympic Boulevard and Arapahoe Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 29, 2024) — Joseph Rangel died in a hit-and-run motorized bike accident near Olympic Boulevard and Arapahoe Street.
The tragedy struck around 1:45 a.m. Monday in the Westlake area of Los Angeles. Under unclear circumstances, 15-year-old Rangel, operating a motorized pocket bike northbound on Arapahoe Street, lost control. Subsequently, the pocket bike slid into the intersection where an eastbound vehicle struck the juvenile. Instead of stopping and assisting the minor, the driver fled the scene without identifying him or herself.
Rangel, of Los Angeles, passed away in the accident. The Los Angeles Police Department and the County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed this.
At this time, officers do not have a description of the driver or vehicle. However, they have a standing reward of up to $50,000 for anyone who could solve this fatal hit-and-run. Those with information can call the LAPD West Traffic Division at 213-473-0234, or 877-LAPD-247.
