14-Year-Old Girl Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on County Road 200 in Orland
ORLAND, CA (June 1, 2023) — A 14-year-old girl was injured in a pedestrian accident on County Road 200 near Hambright Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol Willows office, the pedestrian crash happened on May 22. For an unknown reason, a driver of a 2015 Nissan struck a 14-year-old Orland girl walking southbound across County Road 200.
Around 3:50 p.m., emergency crews arrived and located the teen girl with major head trauma. Paramedics took her to an area hospital for treatment, as well as the 62-year-old Orland woman driving the Nissan after she complained of pain.
At this time, CHP officers do not have an explanation for the incident or know where the fault lies. However, an investigation into the crash should clarify any unclear details.
Pedestrians cannot always trust drivers on the road. When crossing the street, make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you. Cross only when the roads are clear and look both ways. Maximizing your visibility by wearing light-colored clothes and crossing at designated crosswalks increases your level of safety.
