PYRAMID LAKE, CA (January 11, 2024) — One person was seriously injured after 2 big rigs crashed on the 5 Freeway near Smokey Bear Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck accident happened just before 8:35 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, two big rigs collided on the southbound 5 Freeway north of Pyramid Lake. Shortly after, the Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics transported one patient out of the scene who had a full leg amputation.
 
According to reports, authorities reported no fatalities in the crash. However, crews closed the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound freeway for the investigation.
