1 Dead in Hit-and-Run Crash at Mt Vernon Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 1, 2024) — One person died in a hit-and-run accident at Mt Vernon Avenue and California Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 2:21 p.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, at least one car crashed at the intersection. Subsequently a passenger of the vehicle that was hit tried to stop the suspect who tried fleeing. However, attempts failed, and the passenger passed away later at Kern Medical.
 
Officials have not released the victim’s name, and traffic investigators have yet to identify the details of this hit-and-run and the suspect involved.
