Solo-Car Accident Near New Pedestrian Crossing on Highway 50 in West Sacramento
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (November 21, 2023) — One person died after a car crashed into the center divider on Highway 50 near Jefferson Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly single-car crash happened near the new pedestrian overcrossing on Highway 50. For possible DUI-related reasons, a driver crashed a 2015 Nissan into the center divider, taking down temporary beams holding the Sycamore Trail Pedestrian Overcrossing.
As a result, one person, believed to be a passenger in the vehicle, passed away. Authorities did not provide information on the driver.
Following the 12:11 a.m. crash, CHP officers arrived and issued a SigAlert for westbound Highway 50 between the 5 Freeway and Harbor Boulevard from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the following day.
