Driver Dies in Multi-Vehicle Big Rig Crash on 680 Freeway in Fremont
FREMONT, CA (July 22, 2024) — At least one died in a multi-car accident that caused a big rig to jackknife on the 680 Freeway near Mission Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the 7:05 a.m. crash Thursday to find six vehicles involved. For an unknown reason, a big rig driver hauling a load of meat did not stop in time and struck the rear of a Toyota Venza before hitting three other cars and veering down an embankment.
Soon after, paramedics responded within minutes to find the Toyota driver deceased at the scene and the jackknifed big rig off the road. Two others claimed minor injuries and sought hospital care.
Officials did not release the victim’s name or the ultimate cause of the crash.
Our heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
