1 Killed after Propane Truck Explodes in Accident on Highway 247 in Johnson Valley

 
JOHNSON VALLEY, CA (July 16, 2024) — One person died after a propane tank truck crashed into a passenger vehicle and exploded on Highway 247 near Rattlesnake Canyon Road.
 
The California Highway Patrol confirmed that the head-on collision involved a Ferrellgas truck transporting propane canisters and a passenger vehicle. However, they have yet to identify what caused the two cars to collide before the truck exploded, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
 
Soon after the collision, San Bernardino County Firefighters arrived, finding the passenger vehicle swallowed by flames. County Fire paramedics transported two patients to a trauma center, and a third victim died at the scene.
 
Officials have not released the person’s identity.
 
Due to the crash, crews closed Highway 247 in both directions for an unknown duration.
