Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on Highway 46 in Lost Hills
LOST HILLS, CA (October 28, 2024) – A man was hit and killed by a car on Highway 46 in Lost Hills Saturday evening on October 26.
The fatal crash happened around 8:41 p.m. just east of Kecks Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking along the highway and into oncoming traffic when a silver 2014 Lincoln Navigator struck him.
The driver of the Lincoln, a 52-year-old Bakersfield man, told officers that he was unable to avoid the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a Santa Maria resident. His identity was withheld at this time.
All occupants of the Lincoln were unharmed.
Officers said the pedestrian was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Further investigation is underway.
