Passenger Dies after Car Crashes into Parked Car on 3rd Avenue in Leimert Park, Driver Flees

 
LEIMERT PARK, CA (September 9, 2024) – A passenger was killed in a hit-and-run crash on 3rd Avenue of the Leimert Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles early Sunday morning on September 7.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a driver of a vehicle crashed into an unoccupied parked car in the 3900 block of 3rd Avenue around 4:00 a.m.
 
After the crash, the driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, leaving the passenger behind.
 
Police said the passenger was later found dead in the passenger seat. It was unclear if the victim had died before or after the driver fled.
 
No identifying information was immediately available.
 
Authorities are still investigating the crash and searching for the driver.
