BIG SUR, CA (July 17, 2024) — Doris Lucha was involved in a deadly pedestrian accident on Highway 1 near Seberanes Canyon Trailhead last Saturday.
 
Authorities are investigating what led to the fatal pedestrian accident that happened around 5:18 p.m. For an unknown reason, a northbound Ford F-150 — occupied by Doris Guadalupe Hernandez Lucha and Beatriz Z. Garcia from Seaside — struck a female pedestrian crossing from the west shoulder onto the highway’s northbound lane.
 
The driver, Lucha, tried swerving but became unsuccessful at avoiding the imminent accident. Tragically, the pedestrian passed away from severe injuries at the scene. Lucha and Garcia, although shaken up, did not claim any injuries and face no charges.
 
At this time, the Monterey County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
