Robert Rodriguez Dies, Erick Cowdery Detained in Motorcycle Crash at Varner Road and Ramon Road

 
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (June 25, 2024) — Robert Rodriguez died in a motorcycle accident at Varner Road and Ramon Road.
 
According to reports, the fatal motorcycle accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, Erick Robert Cowdery, of Palm Desert, struck 48-year-old Robert Ernest Rodriguez on his motorcycle. Subsequently, Cowdery tried to flee the scene, but bystanders restrained him until officers arrived.
 
Moments later, Palm Desert Station, Central Homicide Unit and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office responded. Rodriguez passed away from severe injuries.
 
After an investigation, police arrested 30-year-old Cowdery, booking him into John Benoit Detention Center for murder. Officers believe he intentionally tried to run down Rodriguez.
