Teen Driver Killed, Child Among Injured After Car Hits Tree on Mormon Emigrant Trail in Pollock Pines

POLLOCK PINES, CA (May 29, 2024) — A 14-year-old driver died after crashing a car into a tree on Mormon Emigrant Trail near Park Creek Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly single-car crash happened on Memorial Day in Northern California. For an unknown reason, a 14-year-old was piloting a Ford Ranger pickup truck westbound on Mormon Emigrant Trail. Subsequently, the teen lost control of the car and crashed into a tree before the car overturned.

Soon after, the El Dorado County Fire Protection District responded and found an 8-year-old girl and a 40-year-old man with serious injuries. Due to their conditions, medics took one to a hospital and airlifted the other to UC Davis Medical Center.

The teen driver, however, passed away from severe injuries. Authorities did not identify him.

At the time of the report, officials could not specify the relationships among the victims. However, an investigation into this crash should provide more details.
