Head-On Crash on Highway 68 in Salinas Kills Two People

 
SALINAS, CA (May 11, 2024) – A man and a woman were killed in a head-on accident on Highway 68 in Salinas Friday afternoon on May 10.

The fatal accident happened around 4:40 p.m. just west of Spreckles Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 64-year-old Salinas man was driving a Mazda CX9 eastbound when he veered across the grass median and into the westbound lanes. He then struck a Honda CRV head-on, driven by a 51-year-old Salinas woman.

The impact caused the Mazda to roll over. The man driving the car died at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the female driver of the Honda to a hospital, where she also succumbed to her injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It was unknown whether alcohol or drugs was a factor.
