Bicyclist Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by Pickup Truck on Highway 299 in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (October 9, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a bicycle accident on Highway 299 in Redding Saturday afternoon on October 7.
 
The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. at Iron Mountain Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on the highway and was turning left onto Iron Mountain Road when a pickup truck traveling on Iron Mountain Road hit him.
 
As a result, the bicyclist suffered major injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center in an unknown condition.
 
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
