19-Year-Old and Child Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 41 in Kettleman City

 
KETTLEMAN CITY, CA (September 13, 2022) — A child was among two dead in a head-on accident on Highway 41 near Quebec Avenue on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle collision happened around 7:00 p.m. A 19-year-old driver of a 2018 Honda Accord tried to pass up slower-moving traffic on a curve. However, as he was moving northbound in the southbound lanes, he collided head-on with a 2006 Honda Odyssey, driven by a 29-year-old woman.
 
Due to the impact, both vehicles veered off the roadway into a ditch, three miles north of Kettleman City.
 
As a result of the accident, the 19-year-old Honda driver and a boy in the van sustained fatal injuries.
 
The female driver of the minivan and three children suffered major injuries and were brought to Community Regional Medical Center for immediate care.
