Shane Rivera and Spencer Thomas Killed in Head-On Accident on San Francisquito Canyon Road [Santa Clarita, CA]

Head-On Crash in Santa Clarita Kills Three People, Spencer Thomas and Shane Rivera Identified

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (August 29, 2022) – Shane Rivera and Spencer Thomas were among three people who died in a head-on accident in Santa Clarita on Sunday afternoon, August 28.
 
The accident happened around 4:10 p.m. at San Francisquito Canyon Road and Riverview Road. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a white BMW was traveling south on San Francisquito. At the same time, Thomas was driving a blue GMC Suburban north on that same stretch of road.
 
The BMW made an unsafe turning movement to the left and traveled over the double yellow lines. It then entered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the GMC. Both vehicles then caught fire.
 
As a result, both drivers, Thomas and a 40-year-old Valencia man, died at the scene. Rivera, a 41-year-old Los Angeles resident, also died in the crash. She was a right front passenger of the BMW.
 
Thomas was 28 years old from Saugus. The third deceased victim was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported two other people to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with critical injuries.
