Amtrak Train Hits Car on Orwood Road in Brentwood Killing 3 Women

 
BRENTWOOD, CA (June 27, 2022) – Three women died in a car and train accident on Orwood Road in Brentwood on Sunday afternoon, June 26.
 
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. on a long rural dirt driveway in the 3800 block of Orwood Road near Bixler Road.
 
According to the Contra Costa Sheriff Department, the westbound Amtrak train slammed into the four-door sedan at a private crossing with no railroad. The impact sent the car off the dirt driveway and into a parked SUV.
 
As a result, three women – all over the age of 50 – died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
A child and two men suffered severe injuries. Another person had moderate injuries.
 
None of the 81 passengers or five crew members of the train was injured in the crash.
 
At this time, deputies are still investigating the exact cause of the crash.
