Motorcyclist Jaques Loren Suffers Major Injuries after Crash with Hit-and-Run Driver in Trinity County

 
TRINITY COUNTY, CA (May 26, 2022) – Jaques Loren was seriously injured in a motorcycle hit-and-run crash on Highway 299 on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. on May 24, near the Salyer Store. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 75-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle east on the highway. At the same time, a 1987 Toyota was traveling west.
 
The driver of the Toyota made a left turn into the store parking lot and did not yield to the motorcyclist.
 
Loren applied the brakes but was not able to avoid the crash. He was ejected from his motorcycle after the impact.
 
Both vehicles came to a rest and blocked the eastbound lane of Highway 299. The driver of the Toyota was seen exiting his vehicle and entering a white Toyota FJ, which fled the scene.
 
Loren suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics took him to a hospital in Humboldt County for treatment.
 
Officers are still on the lookout for the suspect and urged witnesses to contact them at 530-623-3832.
