1 Dead in Bicycle Crash on 5 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 18, 2022) — One person died in a bicycle accident on the 5 Freeway near Clairemont Drive on Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal bicycle crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a bicyclist ventured onto the 5 Freeway in the Mission Bay area of San Diego and collided with a vehicle.
 
As a result of the crash, one person suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Due to the accident, authorities had to close the two lanes of the freeway into the late morning to assess the accident.
