Woman Dead, Car Strikes Tree on Highway 160 in Walnut Grove

 
WALNUT GROVE, CA (April 27, 2022) — A woman died after a car hit a tree on Highway 160 near Poverty Road early Monday.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the single-vehicle accident happened around 2:39 a.m. For reasons that require further investigation, a man driving a truck veered to avoid hitting an animal. However, the driver lost control of the truck, sending it down an embankment and crashing into a tree.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the 34-year-old female passenger in his vehicle suffered fatal injuries. Soon after, authorities and paramedics arrived and interviewed the uninjured driver who did not appear to be under the influence at the time.
 
At this time, investigators plan to look into this crash and his story from all angles. If anyone has more information on this accident, please contact the CHP.
