BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 12, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Buck Owens Boulevard in Bakersfield on Monday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 9:00 p.m. on January 10, near Gilmore Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the male pedestrian had been crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk when a vehicle struck him.
 
As a result, the man suffered major injuries. Responding paramedics attempted saving him, but he died at the scene.
 
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity on a later date.
 
Police said speed does not appear to be a factor. An investigation into this fatality is underway.
