Motorcyclist Robert Badal Dies after Colliding into Car in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 24, 2021) – A 69-year-old man from Sacramento was killed in a motorcycle accident near Dillard Road and Riley Road on August 22.
According the California Highway Patrol, the rider, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Robert Edward Badal of Sacramento, traveled east on Dillard Road around 11:40 a.m. when his 2016 Indian motorcycle collided with a 2014 Chevrolet pickup just west of Riley Road.
The CHP said the driver of the truck, identified as a 34-year-old Lincoln man, had come to a complete stop because of traffic. At the same time, Badal’s bike, which was straddling the center line between directions of traffic, came up behind the truck. However, the driver of the truck began making a U-turn, putting him directly in Badar’s path. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the left side of the truck.
Badal was thrown from his bike and was declared dead by paramedics from the Cosumnes Community Service District Fire Department.
The driver of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends of Robert Edward Badal.
