84-Year-Old Driver Dies in Car Accident on Highway 99 at Cleveland Avenue [Madera, CA]

Box Truck Involved in Fatal Car Accident on Highway 99 in Madera

 
MADERA, CA (August 12, 2021) – Police confirmed that an 84-year-old driver died in a car accident on Highway 99 on August 10.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Cleveland Avenue around 5:20 PM.
 
Based on reports, the elderly was driving an SUV south on the highway at the time of the crash. Then, the traffic in front of him stopped. Due to unknown reasons, he failed to stop, causing his vehicle to veer off the highway through a concrete barrier and up an embankment. Subsequently, his SUV went back and ended up slamming into a box truck in front of it.
 
As a result, the 84-year-old man from Los Banos died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification. The truck driver was not hurt.
 
At this point, this accident on Highway 99 is still under investigation by Madera Police.
