Passenger Dies in Fiery Hit-and-Run near 10th Street in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 3, 2021) – A woman was killed in a fiery hit-and-run near 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:45 a.m. on July 3. According to Long Beach police, a 51-year-old Los Angeles man was driving a 1994 Buick Le Sabre when he crashed the car for unknown reasons. He then sped away in the area and struck a parked 2008 Honda Accord, a street sign, a commercial gas line and a tree. The Buick then caught fire.
 
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics treated the female passenger, but the victim died at the scene.
 
Police only identified the woman as a 40-year-old Lakewood resident.
 
The driver fled the scene after the crash. Police said he did not have a valid driver’s license and was not insured.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash.
