Speeding Driver Causes Fatal Head-On Accident on Highway 65 in Delano

 
DELANO, CA (June 16, 2021) – A woman was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 65 in Delano Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:58 p.m. on June 15, near Highway 155. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Honda Accord was speeding southbound on Highway 65 when it drifted into the northbound lane and collided head-on into a 2021 Nissan, driven by the 31-year-old Porterville woman.
 
Arriving units located the Honda facing the wrong way in the northbound lanes. The Nissan landed in a dirt field.
 
Paramedics provided life-saving measures, but the female driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the 52-year-old Lamont man who was driving the Honda suffered major injuries. Firefighters extricated him and transported him to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still working on the accident.
