Car Accident near Lawrence Welk Court in Vista Kills 19-Year-Old Driver and Passenger

 
VISTA, CA (April 6, 2021) – Two people were killed Thursday evening after a car accident at the intersection of Lawrence Welk Court and Lawrence Welk Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on April 1 just west of 15 Freeway in a rural hillside northeast of Vista.
 
A 2016 Toyota Scion was traveling eastbound on Lawrence Welk Court. For unknown reasons, it continued through the intersection with Lawrence Welk Drive and traveled down a steep embankment, CHP officials said.
 
As a result, the 19-year-old Vista driver and his passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Their names were withheld pending family notification.
 
The CHP is still trying to determine whether speed or intoxication played a factor in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
