62-Year-Old Erik Shaw Dies in Ventura Head-On Accident on Foothill Road

 
VENTURA, CA (February 9, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in a head-on accident Friday afternoon in east Ventura.
 
The accident happened around 1:36 p.m. on Foothill Road about a half-mile west of Wells Road.
 
According to the coroner’s office, 62-year-old Erik Shaw of Santa Paula died at the scene.
 
Shaw had been driving a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Foothill Boulevard. At the same time, a 29-year-old Wilmington man was heading westbound in a 2008 Toyota Highlander SUV. Both were wearing seat belts.
 
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Highlander veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with Shaw’s Silverado.
 
As a result, Shaw suffered fatal injuries.
 
The driver of the Highlander sustained major injuries. Paramedics took him Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.
