8-Month-Old Killed, Several Hurt in Head-On Crash on Vincent Road in Merced County
MERCED COUNTY, CA (December 20, 2024) — An 8-month-old baby died in a head-on accident on Vincent Road near Harding Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a gray Honda Civic and a white Toyota Highlander. For unknown reasons, a 20-year-old man from Delhi driving a southbound Honda entered the northbound lane and crashed into a Toyota Highlander driven by a 43-year-old woman.
Upon impact, the Honda veered out of control and crashed into a wrought iron fence while the Toyota stopped, blocking both ways of Vincent Road.
Subsequently, paramedics responded and took the Honda driver and right-front passenger to a hospital with major injuries. Tragically, an 8-month-old in the Honda died later at a hospital. The Toyota driver was also taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
Reports did not say what led to the accident, but an investigation should confirm the details.
