1 Dead, 1 Injured After Sewage Vacuum Tanker Truck Accident at Fairview Road in Costa Mesa

 
COSTA MESA, CA (September 24, 2024) — A driver died after a sewage vacuum tanker truck and a car crashed at Fairview Road and Sunflower Avenue.
 
According to Costa Mesa Police officers, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 8:40 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver of a sewage vacuum tanker truck ran a red light at the intersection. Subsequently, a small SUV plowed into the side of the truck, causing it to overturn onto its side.
 
Due to the damage, debris littered the scene, and a HazMat team responded to attend to the sewage from the tanker spill.
 
Tragically, the driver of the sewage tanker truck died from severe injuries. The SUV driver suffered unknown injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
 
After the crash, police closed the area to investigate but did not say what led to the collision.
