Elder Dies in 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 20 in Penn Valley

 
PENN VALLEY, CA (April 19, 2024) — An 82-year-old man died in a 2-car accident on Highway 20 near Chances R Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Grass Valley Station, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 1:25 p.m. Wednesday. As a 17-year-old female was slowing down before an animal on the road, the elder rear-ended her 1995 Dodge Ram with his 2000 Toyota Corolla.
 
Subsequently, officers responded to the scene and took the seriously injured man to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. However, he passed away from his injuries around 2:00 p.m.
According to an investigation, the victim was not wearing a seatbelt during the collision.
 
As for the teen from Dobbins, Calif., she was not hurt in the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol factored into the cause. However, the crash remains under investigation.
