2 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash at Bear Valley Road in Hesperia

HESPERIA, CA (April 24, 2024) — Two people suffered major injuries in a 2-car accident at Bear Valley Road and 2nd Avenue.

According to reports, the two-vehicle crash happened around 12:13 p.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a woman in an eastbound 2006 Toyota Camry Solara failed to stop at a red light on 2nd Avenue. Subsequently, her car broadsided a westbound Chevrolet van turning south onto 2nd Avenue.

Minutes after the crash, Hesperia police responded to assess the accident. Meanwhile, paramedics requested a Mercy Air helicopter to land at the Desert Valley Hospital helipad to airlift the woman to a trauma center.

As for the man driving the Chevrolet, he sustained major injuries to the arm and sought hospital care, as well.

Authorities did not indicate if impairment, speed or distracted driving factored into the cause. However, they will explore all possibilities.

Traffic lights are designed to streamline traffic and keep everyone safe. When driving through intersections, be wary of the light. Remember to yield to oncoming traffic if they have the right of way. Drivers often take driving safely for granted that it paves the way for accidents to occur.
