Car Strikes Signal Light Pole in Modesto Killing Two Young Men

 
MODESTO, CA (June 17, 2024) – Pedro Rivera Ruiz and Nathaniel Perez were killed in a car accident in Modesto early Sunday morning on June 16.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Carpenter Road and West Hatch Road. According to the Modesto Police Department, a 2008 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Carpenter when it struck a raised concrete island and a signal light pole.
 
As a result, both occupants were ejected from the car and died at the scene.
 
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified Ruiz, 19, and Perez, 20, as the fatal victims. Both were residents of Modesto.
 
It was unclear which of the young men was the driver.
