Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Airport Drive in Oildale

 
OILDALE (June 26, 2024) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Airport Drive in Oildale early Tuesday morning on June 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:45 a.m. just south of Washington Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling southbound on Airport Drive struck the male pedestrian.
 
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene leaving the victim with major injuries.
 
First responders found the pedestrian lying in the slow lane of Airport Drive, outside of a marked crosswalk. They attempted saving him, but the pedestrian died at the scene.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office said the victim’s identity is unknown. They will determine the cause and manner of death at a later time.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the crash to determine if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this crash.
