Multi-Vehicle Accident on 580 Freeway in San Leandro Ends in Fatality

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (September 16, 2021) – At least one person died in a multi-vehicle accident on 580 Freeway in San Leandro Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. on September 14, near the Dutton Avenue off-ramp. According to the Oakland Fire Department, at least half a dozen vehicles were involved. One of the vehicles had crashed into the center divider and overturned.
 
Paramedics provided life-saving measures to several injured patients. Sadly, at least one of them died at the hospital.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
