Wrong-Way Motorist Dies in Accident with Big Rig on 15 Freeway in Fontana

 
FONTANA, CA (August 13, 2024) — A wrong-way driver died in a crash with a semi-truck on the 15 Freeway at Summit Avenue.
 
According to reports, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 1:40 p.m. on August 12. For an unknown reason, a driver in a reportedly stolen vehicle was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway. Subsequently, the tan Chevy SUV driving at speeds of 80 miles per hour exited the Summit Avenue on-ramp and collided with a semi-truck that might have been idling at the time of the impact.
 
Soon after, eight Fontana Police Department patrol vehicles responded to assist with shutting down the on-ramp.
 
The sole occupant of the wrong-way stolen vehicle passed away at the scene. Authorities have not identified the victim.
 
At this time, police are investigating the nebulous details of this crash.
