Driver Pinned after Broadside Accident on Avenue 11 near Road 33 1/2

MADERA COUNTY, CA (February 16, 2023) – A woman sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Avenue 11, Tuesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 14, shortly before 9:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound Toyota Camry failed to stop at a stop sign.

Then, a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck broadsided the Toyota near Road 33 1/2. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to crash into a PG&E pole.

Emergency crews extricated the pinned Toyota driver from her vehicle. An ambulance later transported the woman to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries and did not need hospitalization.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.

When approaching an intersection, reduce your speed and look out for other vehicles. Pay attention to and obey stop signs, traffic lights, yield signs, and other traffic signals. Avoid distractions and always practice defensive driving.
