Fatal Wrong-Way Head-On Accident on 14th Avenue in Kings County
KINGS COUNTY, CA (August 29, 2022) – A woman was killed in a wrong-way head-on accident on 14th Avenue in Kings County early Saturday, August 27.
The accident happened just after 4:30 a.m. at the intersection with Iona Avenue. According to the CHP, a Chevy Silverado was traveling north on 14th Avenue when it suddenly crossed into the southbound lanes into the path of a Chevy Trailblazer, causing a head-on collision.
As a result, the 61-year-old female passenger of the Trailblazer from Hanford, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The 61-year-old male driver of the Trailblazer, also from Hanford, was airlifted to an area hospital with major injuries
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old male driver of the Silverado initially left the scene, but eventually returned. He sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. Police arrested him for hit- and-run and felony DUI.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
