Woman Dies in Three-Car Crash on Highway 50

 
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (July 27, 2021) — A woman died in a three-car accident on Highway 50 near Tamarack Pines Road Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multicar crash happened around 5:14 p.m. For unknown reasons, a woman in a 2006 Saturn Vue was driving aggressively while heading westbound on the highway. Unfortunately, as she drove unsafely at a high rate of speed, her Saturn collided with an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.
 
As a result of the impact, the Saturn tore into two pieces and one piece of the vehicle, as well as the Sparks, Nev., woman, struck a 2013 Toyota Corolla. Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
 
Arriving paramedics responded and transported the Chevy driver and four of its occupants — all 20 years old and under — to Barton Memorial Hospital and Renown Medical Center in Reno.
 
At this time, authorities have ruled out DUI as an explanation for the crash. Although, anyone with information should contact the CHP.
