66-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck on West Mission Road in San Marcos

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 21, 2024) – A 66-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident at West Mission Road and North Las Posas Road in San Marcos on Thursday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:43 p.m. on January 18, near the Palomar Sprinter Station. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was walking in a crosswalk when a gray Toyota Tacoma struck her.
 
After the crash, the 61-year-old male driver of the Tacoma stopped and called the authorities.
 
A passerby also stopped and tried performing life-saving measures on the pedestrian.
 
San Marcos Fire Department paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
Drugs, speed and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
