Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle along Taft Highway in Castle Ranch Area

 
CASTLE RANCH, CA (May 2, 2022) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on Taft Highway in the Castle Ranch area of southwest Bakersfield late Friday evening.
 
The accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. on April 29 at the intersection with Michele Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the female pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when a vehicle struck her.
 
Officers arrived and found the woman unresponsive in the roadway. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim died at the scene.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim at a later time.
 
The involved driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
