Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on South 9th Street [Modesto, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on South 9th Street near River Road in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (July 25, 2022) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on South 9th Street, early Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 24 at about 12:35 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was running west across the southbound lanes.
 
A short time later, a Toyota Camry hit her near River Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending positive identification.
 
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old driver of the Toyota remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
