Woman Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Rose Avenue

 
SELMA, CA (August 26, 2021) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Rose Avenue near Amber Avenue Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened around 12:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 58-year-old woman was walking within the eastbound lane of Rose Avenue. Subsequently, a driver traveling about 55 miles per hour was unable to see the pedestrian on the road and struck her.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the woman died at the scene. In the investigation, detectives determined that the woman was wearing dark clothing, and with no streetlamps, circumstances became precarious.
 
At this time, CHP has ruled out DUI as a possible source. However, the crash remains under investigation.
