Pedestrian Accident on East Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield Turns Deadly

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 21, 2021) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident at East Truxtun Avenue and Haley Street Friday evening.
 
The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. on June 18. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the victim was in the middle of the road, pushing a shopping cart outside a crosswalk, when a vehicle struck him.
 
The impact caused the woman major injuries. First responders attempted saving her, but she died at the scene.
 
Officers performed a standard field sobriety test on the involved female driver. However, police later said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
 
The identity of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing. Police asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-327-7111.
