Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Several Vehiclces on 5 Freeway in Carmel Valley

 
CARMEL VALLEY, CA (January 12, 2022) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in the Carmel Valley, area Monday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:20 p.m. on January 10, just north of 805 Freeway junction and south of Carmel Mountain Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was walking on the right side of the northbound 5 Freeway when a black Ford Focus struck her.
 
While the woman was lying in the roadway, other vehicles also hit her body. She was reportedly dressed in all dark clothing and was stumbling.
 
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
 
A toxicology report was pending to determine if the woman had been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
 
The driver of the Ford remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available. Further investigation is underway.
