Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle while Walking on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys

 
VAN NUYS, CA (July 1, 2022) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys on Friday morning, July 1.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:45 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was walking on the freeway when an oncoming vehicle struck her.
 
The impact caused fatal injuries. As a result, the unidentified woman died at the scene.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
Crews issued a SigAlert, closing all northbound lanes of the freeway and several southbound lanes until around 3:30 a.m.
 
An investigation into this fatality is underway.
