Multi-Vehicle Accident on Somersville Road in Antioch Kills 1 and Injures 4

 
ANTIOCH, CA (May 26, 2021) – A 68-year-old woman died in a multi-vehicle accident on Somersville Road in Antioch Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:17 p.m. on May 25, in the 2000 block of Somersville Road at Delta Fair Boulevard, from eastbound Highway 4 right outside a Denny’s restaurant.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was speeding northbound when it crossed the center median and hit one and then two vehicles traveling south on Somersville Road.
 
As a result, the female passenger in the speeding vehicle died at the scene. Another passenger in that vehicle suffered critical injuries. The driver had moderate injuries.
 
The drivers of the southbound vehicles sustained minor injuries and have been released from hospitals.
 
Police said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
