Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway near Firebaugh Kills Passenger

 
FIREBAUGH, CA (June 27, 2022) – A woman died in a multi-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway near Firebaugh on Saturday afternoon, June 25.
 
The accident happened around 2:17 p.m. just south of the Nees Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2016 Freightliner was traveling northbound on the freeway.
 
The driver did not see the slowed traffic ahead and rear-ended four vehicles. It then overturned from the impact.
 
One of the vehicles, a 2016 Nissan Murano, was carrying three people. The female passenger sitting in the right rear passenger seat died at the scene.
 
Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, some parties involved sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
